From the weekly clap for our carers to the rainbows displayed in windows across the UK, the Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of the NHS in all of our lives.

The past few months have also shone a light on the invaluable contributions by people of all nationalities to our health service.

This is not a new story. Migrants have played a key role in the NHS ever since its creation. Heart of the Nation: Migration and the Making of the NHS is a new digital exhibition exploring the personal stories and experiences of people who have come to Britain to work for the health service over the past 72 years.
